Review from ‘Irland Journal' XV, 3.04 (RHB: NEULAND) Germany

Deridre Starr is an Irish singer based in New Zealand. The voice you will hear now, the wonderful changes, the breath, the slowed-down time, which is filling, all of this belongs to one woman about who's life people unwillingly start thinking about. The CD is from the beginning to the end, soft and beautiful. You can listen to it on a moonlit summer's night. You can sit on a balcony, listen to it, without getting up once to turn the volume down. The neighbours will notice and start asking where are these beautiful tones coming from. This voice wont leave your mind.

‘I have always liked the Flower of Magherally. I think I first heard Jackie Kenny from Galway sing it and I loved it. Then the song reappeared in New Zealand. We were playing a concert in Wellington, and Deirdre Starr, a great singer based in New Zealand, was playing support, and when she sang the song I got the shivers on the back of my neck.
